Power Supply Issues?
Alright guys so in the last thread I created I stated that I got a newish laptop (new to me at least) and it was known to have power issues. The computer will sometimes turn on and the screen won't turn on. All the lights along the keyboard and such are on and the speakers work and everything spins and runs but the screen won't turn on. And at other times it will work perfectly fine. Now I haven't been able to pin point whether or not it's a problem with the connection to the motherboard and the screen or if it really is a power issue. I know there are a lot of older people on here with a lil more experience then I. So I am looking for guidance. What should I do lol.

Well if the odd one out is your screen then I'd recommend getting it looked at by your local computer technician. See what's going on if everything else seems to function properly.

Re: Power Supply Issues?
Well I know that the model is known for having issues with cooling properly (it's a Compaq Presario V6000) so I wouldn't doubt something could of shorted out and caused problems. But I think I'll go to one of the computer shops around and see if one of my buddies wouldn't mind taking a look at it. (I know most of the people that work at the few computer shops around me lol)

Re: Power Supply Issues?
Does your laptop have any outputs like VGA/HDMI/DVI?
If so try hooking it up to another panel to see if it's related to the video signal.
It that works we're back at the screen being the culprit and if you're not comfortable opening your laptop I would suggest having a local technician look at it instead again this is assuming you even have any outputs.

Re: Power Supply Issues?
I have S-Video and VGA outputs on the side. I've already hooked them up and neither display anything. So it's still up in the air on whether or not it's the video card is dying or if there is a power supply issue. I opened the back and everything that I had access to seemed to be in place and didn't look as if they had any damage to them. I mean the laptop worked fine for two days then it was back to these issues so I honestly think it is a power supply issue internally.

Re: Power Supply Issues?
Well I hate to say it but unless you can get a replacement power unit I would bring it in, there isn't a lot of testing you can do from here without spare parts.

Re: Power Supply Issues?
I guess I'll either need to find a same version of the laptop for parts or get a replacement or have it repaired at a computer shop around here. I'll take a look into it and see what I can do.

Re: Power Supply Issues?
Mmmm i think but my opionoin is that you should add the power supply related with your computer's specifications and board i preffer to this power supply because if you have add this methodw then you have never watch to this type of problems...
