Default 360 Won't Connect to Internet

    Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a little advice, perhaps someone has experienced this before.

My Xbox will not connect to the internet. I have a 25' cable going through the basement and I thought maybe something happened with that. I ran a 15' cable through the house and it STILL wouldn't connect. So I brought the Xbox into another room and connect it TO THE MODEM with a 3' cable. Still, it wouldn't connect. It was telling me on the network screen to make sure a cable is connected between that and the router.

Any assistance. I would appreciate it.

Make the sure the port in the back of the Xbox is functioning and/or the modems port. Try a different port on the modem.

Does it say you have a cable plugged into the Xbox?

Also, try resetting your router/modem. When I first got LIVE I have a rather crappy router and everytime I added a new device to it I had to reset it.

    Watch out guys.

Make sure there both plugged in right, it could be plugged in the wrong port.

Thank you all for your willingness to help. I appreciate that.

I tried Johnson's idea of resetting everything. I reset the router and modem via their switches and left them both unplugged for a while. No fix. :(

Johnson. It basically says there is no connection. "Make sure you are connected to your router" is the message I get more or less.

I have a real feeling it's an issue with the xbox. I've read your can reset your network settings and stuff - but as soon as I click on "wired", the error comes up. Every piece of information I read says I should be able to clear settings and change info somewhere in that screen.

Any more help I'd appreciate it. Xbox support says I need to send it for repair. For $120 I can wait a couple weeks and buy spend a little more on a NEW console. I only use the stupid thing to stream to my tv from my pc.

    Thanks.

Try going wireless, maybe that would work. If you can, put a router very close to the xbox and pc so you won't have trouble streaming

My xbox does this some times. I unplug the ethernet cord from my xbox and I unplug my routers. Then I wait 20-30 minutes. I plug everything back in and it works.

Have you tried connecting to the internet with other devices? If it works there, It is probably your ethernet cord.

Another idea is to try other ethernet cords to see if they work. It might only be the cord.
