Ouya Gets More Partnerships, Four Controller Support

With less than 12 hours left in the Ouya's miraculous round of Kickstarter funding, Ouya has still not been resting on its laurels. Just yesterday they had barely crossed the 7 million dollar range, but with a combination of new announcements and the familiar end-of-funding push, the Ouya has made another million dollars, catapulting it to almost $8 million.

Today's announcement sweetens the pot even more for backers. Namco Bandai is in talks to bring Pac-Man, Galaga, Ridge Racer, and Tekken to the Ouya. While it's unclear if these games will be ports of their mobile and tablet counterparts or something specifically built for the Ouya, we're excited to see just what the Ouya is capable of.

That's not the only news brought about by Ouya's update. The Ouya will also support Plex, another media solution in the vein of XBMC. More choices is always better right?

Finally, and most importantly, the Ouya will now be getting four controller support. Of course, you'll have to buy those controllers separately - the Ouya's $225 option only offers two controllers and other packages only come with one (though you can add an additional controller for $30). Fortunately, Ouya has made it possible to upgrade your pledge for four controllers - an additional $90 will net you three more controllers.

In the thread picture, on the TV with game titles listed on it I saw Dead Trigger. If that's means the app is coming to console I'm buying this.

I'm not happy with this. This console will die out in a year.

Controller=xbox controller remake.... The sticks are in the same place, the d-pad is in the same place, same button style (Just renamed them) etc... And unless the console comes out guns blazing with some really good games, it'll end up like the wii, everyone knows about it, but no one wants one...

I don't think you understand the potential of an open-source console.

It's just an android tablet, without the touch screen, cameras, or motion controls.
My tablet has everything this does, and more. I can hook up controllers to my tablet, hook up my HDMI cable, and oh look, it's Ouya.
And I'm sure you'll be able to rip exclisuve APKs from Ouya like Tekken, edit the build.prop (if you even need to do that) and install them on any android system.
Normally, when I hear open source, I'm all for it. But when they make it out to be this awesome system, and give people the delusion that it is just as powerful as consoles now, that's what annoys me. It's just Android in a box. Big deal.

The Console is Android-Powered, meaning it'll probably feature an app market similar to that on an android tablet/phone. As long as Dead Trigger is on the android marketplace, then it'll probably be available on Ouya :D
